And the Semi-Finalists Are . . .

In the Sedan category:

Audi A6 3.2 L
BMW 535xi
Lexus GS350 AWD

In the SUV category:

Lexus RX350
Mercedes ML
BMW X5

No choices yet. Not looked at price either, which might sway me. Feel free to add your car insights to the mix, or let me know if I left something critical off.

Note to my readers: When discussing the relative merits of these vehicles with the BMW dealer, I was saying I thought the BMW was more performance, not ride. He said "Miss, by the way your drive, I would say you NEED performance."

Respectfully submitted,

The Wife

Speaking as an Audi owner (A4 Convertible) and a woman who knows your practical side, I must say that I love my Audi. When I get back to the states I would even consider upgrading to the A6 convertible. But one of the things I love most about my Audi is that no cost maint program. Not a dime for oil changes, spark plugs or even tires for the first 50,000 miles. THAT is practical. And it looks good too. And when you kick in the tip-tronic transmission, it makes you go "wheee!!!"

Go and get the car that makes you feel "yummy".

Performance Sherformance.

(ROFLMAO)

Seriously, you should drive whatever makes you feel the best. Leave the Au Pair with the van, since she likes it now. And anyway, like the hotel in Vegas...

YOU DESERVE IT!

All my best,
IT

P.S. We almost shipped your husband a dustbuster as a joke. =)

You honestly can't really go wrong with any of these ones. I occasionally drive "Mr. Slates" Audi S4 and love the thing. The A6 has had great reviews too.

Personal preferance here. They're all very similar in design, handling and vrooom/weeeeee factor.

I'm with IT.. Buy the one that makes you happy.

My dad has an A6 and it's awesome. The shocks are a little tough and sometimes make for a bumpy ride on crappy roads but when the road is nice it's very smooth.

Not sure if they still have this going, but when I owned a BMW they had a 50K miles warranty on everything except tires and gasoline. Including the service. If your headlight went out they would replace it for free. If you were out of oil they would refill it. if you needed new wipers they will put them on for you. And service was free. And you got a loaner. These things matter. It just feels good.
